First-time online registration can be confusing, especially when a family wants to sign several people up at once. The Fairlington 5K site tried to smooth that out with a small help section containing three step-by-step video tutorials.

The three guides
- One-mile run or walk registration. How to enter the shorter family event.
- Family registration. How a parent could add several members of the household in one order.
- Individual registration. The simplest path, for a single adult or older child entering the 5K.
The videos were hosted on the event’s registration platform, which was operated by a third-party league management service. They are not reproduced here, and sign-up is no longer open.
Common registration tips
- Gather names, ages and shirt sizes for everyone before you start.
- Check which distance each person plans to do, since the one-mile and 5K entries were separate.
- Keep your confirmation email, because it was used at packet pickup.
- Use a laptop or tablet if a phone screen feels cramped.

Who the guides helped
Parents juggling several children, grandparents unsure about online forms and neighbors who had never entered a race were the target audience. Short videos are easier to follow than a long page of instructions, and they reduced the number of questions sent to the organizers in the weeks before the event.
If something still did not work, organizers directed people to ask at the info stage on race morning.
For the overall process, read the registration page. Race-day details are on the race information page.
