Registration for the Fairlington 5K followed a pattern familiar to many community races. Here is how the 2015 edition handled it, for readers who want to understand the format. Registration is not available through this site.

Two entry options
The archived page offered one entry for the 5K and another for the family one-mile fun walk. Individuals and families could sign up separately according to which distance they intended to complete.
Deadlines
Online registration closed ahead of race day, but the organizers still accepted sign-ups on the morning of the race during a short window before the start. Late entrants were warned that a T-shirt could not be guaranteed.
Children, pets and shirts
- Children aged five and under took part for free.
- Dogs were welcome as long as they stayed on a leash.
- Extra shirts for young children could be added at checkout.
Help for first-time users
Packet pickup and shirts
Participants who registered in advance collected their race packet, which included a shirt and bib, on the days before the event. Registering early gave the best chance of receiving the correct shirt size, and that is a common rule for community races that order shirts in bulk.
Family tips
If you are walking with a young child, choose the one-mile option and line up toward the back. Bring a leash for dogs, water for the walk and a hat for sunny spring mornings.
The organizers also published short tutorial videos for the registration process. See the help page. For the date and start time, read the race information.
